The Tallgrass Prairie

Prairie once covered the land from Canada to Texas, Ohio to Montana in vast rolling seas of grass and flowers. Now, tiny remnants remain and environmentalists and preservationists and countless volunteers work to save and restore and reconstruct prairies. These photographs are from Wisconsin and Illinois prairies, from state parks, forest preserves, the Morton Arboretum, Garfeild Farm Museum, trails, commercial landscapes and private gardens. I am nature photographer and landscape designer and prairie volunteer.
